- Concerns:After the peer review, I don’t have any real concerns. I gained enough knowledge about integrating my own point of view because at first I had more interaction between the two authors point of views and now i will incorporate my own views as well.
- Peers Point- They said I did a great job of getting the gist of the concepts between Gee and Cuddy with summarizing both their fronts.
“I feel that you did a good job in providing the reader with information to backup your argument. Additionally, you showed a clear understanding of the relationship between the two work of Gee and Cuddy, as well as their arguments.” (Ben L)
- Gee: I worked well with Gee because with his idea of mushfake “in it or your not” because I believe personally that if you don’t put effort in your not going to reach your goal. On the same token, I did not entirely agree with him that it’s not possible even if you do put in the effort. I think regardless you can enter a discourse whether you put in a lot of effort or just ease your way in, it will be possible to obtain a discourse
- Cuddy: I work best with Cuddy’s idea of the importance of nonverbals in our society in today’s day and age. 90% of human messages are nonverbals and it was easy to help summarize what she felt and how I felt about entering discourse due to the commonalities in concepts.
- Peer Feedback:
- “i like the quotes but try to space them out a little with some explanation without using on of Gee’s other quote” (Mickey)
- “Use your own opinion and views of Gee and Cuddy’s ideas to backup or contextualize the quotes you are using.” (Ben)
The biggest problem that I need to work on is more fluent quotes that have more substance. Introducing them correctly, summarizing it, and applying it to my own point of views.
- My perspective is that I believe Gee and Cuddy can relate to a lot of things at the same degree and also providing reasoning between the two authors.

Table to Help Clarify Authorial Position in Relation to Others’ Views
ENG 110 – Cripps
This table can work in conjunction with They Say/I Say, chapter 4 (Yes, No, Okay, But)
My Stance | Gee | Cuddy |
Agree | “Someone can speak English, but not fluently” (Gee 6).
I agree with Gee because what he is basically saying, is that people have the foundation but don’t have the walls, the doors. They’re not whole. |
“It’s language, so we think about communication. When we think about communication, we think about interactions.” (Cuddy Ted Talk)
Nonverbals are 90% of the messages that humans send on a daily basis in today’s society. Nonverbals can and have said more about a person. |
Disagree | “Fake it till you make it” (Gee 6)
I agree more with Cuddy’s logic of “fake it till you become it” because your not just running to the finish line, it’s a manifestation. |
“Configure your brain to cope the best in that situation” (Cuddy 6)
I disagree because it can be difficult to “configure your brain” for some people who have been struggling mentally. It will take time and possibly assistance. |
Agree, with a Difference | “your in it or your not” (Gee 6)
I agree that it takes some sort of force to get in a discourse but I personally believe that you can ease yourself into a Discourse. |
“you’re going to fake it….you’re just going to do it and do it and do it.” (Cuddy)
I agree, but how she is enforcing it makes it seem that you have to rush into a Discourse. There should be no rush, you enter at your own leisure. |
