“A statistical correlation between high literacy achievement and high socioeconomic, majority-race status routinely shows up in results of national tests of reading and writing performance” (Brandt 559)

“These are the systems that deliver large-scale economic, historical, and political conditions to the scenes of small-scale literacy use and development.” (Brandt 560)

Brandt had the relationship between the scholarly article and a narrative. She talked primarily about her experiences and then transitioned the focus on today’s generation of kids. She discussed the issues with the education system is notoriously known for having the tendency to produce failure due to high demands for success. Now times are evolving and the education system has become more flamboyant with progressive and modern attributes.
